As part of the 2025 Data Doctor series of activities, the Statistics Student Association (Himasta) of Diponegoro University successfully held the 2025 Data Doctor Seminar at the Acintya Prasada Building, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) of Diponegoro University.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s seminar featured the theme\u00a0<\/span>“The Data Awakens: Youth-Powered Innovation for a Sustainable Tomorrow,”<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0highlighting the role of the younger generation in driving sustainable innovation through data utilization. This theme reflects the spirit of data awakening\u00a0<\/span>as<\/span><\/em>\u00a0a strategic resource capable of driving change toward an efficient and sustainable future.<\/span><\/p>\n

The phrase\u00a0<\/span>“The Data Awakens”<\/span><\/em>\u00a0describes how data is no longer just numbers, but has become a major force in decision-making and innovation across sectors. Meanwhile,\u00a0<\/span>“Youth-Powered Innovation”<\/span><\/em>\u00a0emphasizes that the energy and creativity of the younger generation are key factors in transforming data into real solutions to address global challenges\u2014from digital transformation and climate change to equitable access to education.<\/span><\/p>\n

This seminar presented Mr. John Lorenzo A. Yambot,\u00a0<\/span>Assistant Professor<\/span><\/em>\u00a0from\u00a0<\/span>the Institute of Statistics, University of the Philippines Los Ba\u00f1os (UPLB)<\/span><\/em>\u00a0, as the keynote speaker, and was moderated by Rahmila Dapa, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer in the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Diponegoro University (Undip). This activity was attended by students, lecturers, and finalists from all branches of the 2025 Data Doctor competition<\/span>.<\/p>\n

In his presentation, Mr. Yambot explained the importance of leveraging data for better decision-making, improving education quality, and sustainable technological innovation. He emphasized how data can be used to create personalized learning, support evidence\u00a0<\/span>-based<\/span><\/em>\u00a0policy , and strengthen the efficiency of education and government systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also highlighted the opportunities and challenges of developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and research. He believes AI can be a catalyst for progress if developed with high ethics and integrity in data management<\/span>.<\/p>\n
