The Department of Statistics at Diponegoro University once again demonstrated its commitment to\u00a0<\/span>community service<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0. On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, an event titled\u00a0<\/span>\u201cImproving Financial Literacy in Youth Organizations\u201d<\/span><\/em>\u00a0was successfully held at the RT 01 Meeting Hall, Tembalang Pesona Asri Housing Complex. The event was attended by approximately 20 participants from RW 4, Kramas Village, and was met with great enthusiasm.<\/span><\/p>\n

This activity aims to improve the young generation\u2019s ability to manage personal finances, avoid consumer behavior, introduce the concept of debt, and warn about the dangers of online gambling. The main speaker,\u00a0<\/span>Fariz Budi Arafat, S.Si., M.Stats.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0, delivered a two-hour interactive seminar followed by a question-and-answer session.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his presentation, Fariz emphasized the importance of simple steps as the foundation of financial management. He said,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cFinancial management can start with the simplest thing: recording expenses. Once consistent, these records can be analyzed to determine the next month\u2019s budget and evaluate whether there are any excessive expenses in certain items.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The participant response was quite encouraging. While most still rely on pocket money from their parents, some have begun earning their own income through freelance work or campus internships. They also actively shared their experiences on managing personal finances, making the discussion more lively and relevant to real-life situations.<\/span><\/p>\n

This activity also received full support from RW 4. The RW head,\u00a0<\/span>Mr. Dumadiyo<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0, stated that this program was very beneficial in increasing the residents\u2019 knowledge. He opened up opportunities for future collaboration, not limited to Karang Taruna but also involving PKK members with various community service topics tailored to the community\u2019s needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

In closing, the UNDIP Statistics Department emphasized that this activity was the first step in building\u00a0<\/span>financial literacy awareness<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0. It is hoped that participants will not stop learning after this session, but rather continue to improve their skills and develop healthy financial habits.
