The Department of Statistics of Diponegoro University again held the Undip Global Classroom (UGC) activity as part of its commitment to provide quality international learning. On April 20, 2026 and April 23, 2026, this guest lecture presented Dr. Mustain Ramli, S.Si., M.Stat. from Turkish Bank UK Ltd, Turkey, who gave online material on the Nonparametric Regression course.

In the lecture, Dr. Mustain presented the topic “Approximation of Fourier Series Function in Nonparametric Regression Model” in the first session. This material emphasizes how the Fourier series approach can be used to approach complex functions in nonparametric regression models, so that students understand basic concepts as well as mathematical applications in building flexible models.

The second session then deepened the same topic by focusing on “Approximation of Fourier Series Function in Nonparametric Regression Model (Hypothesis Testing)”. In this section, students are invited to understand how hypothesis testing is carried out in the context of nonparametric regression, as well as how the results of the analysis can be interpreted appropriately. The interactive discussions provided an opportunity for students to ask questions and get direct explanations from practitioners who are experienced in the field of statistics as well as the world of international banking.

This activity not only enriches students’ academic insights, but also strengthens the UNDIP Statistics Department’s international network with professionals from the industrial world. Through this guest lecture, students gained a new perspective on the application of statistical methods in the real world, while affirming the commitment of the Department of Statistics UNDIP in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through quality education, global collaboration, and strengthening student academic capacity.
