The Department of Statistics of Diponegoro University has once again shown its commitment to providing an international standard academic atmosphere through Undip Global Classroom (UGC) activities. On May 25, 2026, this guest lecture presented Alfonsus Julanto Endharta, Ph.D, a Principal Researcher from Nemosys Co., Ltd., South Korea, who provided online material in the Time Series Analysis course.
In the lecture, Dr. Alfonsus presented the topic of Time Series Analysis with a systematic and applicable approach. The session began with a discussion on Foundations, Motivation, and Basic Models, which provided a conceptual foundation as well as motivation for the importance of time series analysis in research. Furthermore, he outlined the comparison between the classic ARIMA model and modern methods based on Neural Networks, so that students can understand the development of methodologies from traditional perspectives to artificial intelligence.
Not stopping at theory, Dr. Alfonsus also presented case studies that are relevant to practical needs. Short-Term Electricity Forecasting Analysis is an example of how time series can be used to predict short-term electricity consumption, an issue that is very important in energy management. In addition, he also discussed Modeling International Air Passenger Counts, which highlights the role of data analysis in understanding global mobility and international travel trends.
This activity provides a valuable learning experience for students of the Department of Statistics UNDIP. The interactive discussions that took place enriched the participants’ insights, while confirming that modern statistical methods are able to answer real challenges in the data age. With the implementation of this guest lecture, the Department of Statistics UNDIP further strengthens its commitment to providing relevant, innovative, and globally oriented learning, as well as supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through quality education and international collaboration.
