Semarang, May 24, 2026 – The Department of Statistics, together with the Statistics Student Association, successfully held Dokter Data 2026, an annual competition that provides a platform for students to develop their data analysis skills, creativity, and statistical-based problem-solving skills. The event, which has been held for approximately 14 years, returns with various innovations and high participant enthusiasm. Carrying the theme “PULSE – Progressing Toward A Unified, Livable, & Sustainable Ecosystem,” Dokter Data 2026 encourages participants to present data-based ideas and solutions to support the development of an integrated, livable, and sustainable ecosystem.
This year, Dokter Data 2026 featured four competition categories: the Dokter Data Analytics Olympiad (DAO), the Dokter Data Essay Competition (DEC), the Dokter Data Infographic Competition (DIC), and the Dokter Data High School Olympiad (DHSO). Participants from various educational institutions participated in the competition, having gone through a series of selections from April 2026 to culminate in the final round on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
A total of 152 teams participated in Dokter Data 2026. After a rigorous selection process in the preliminary round, the top 22 teams advanced to the final round, where they presented their best skills to a panel of judges. The finalists demonstrated superior competency in statistics and data science, while also presenting innovative ideas and solutions to the various problems raised in the competition.
One of the significant achievements of this year’s event was the Infographic Competition, which was held internationally for the second time, supported by the World Class University (WCU) Program at Diponegoro University. The participation of participants from various countries demonstrates the expanding reach and reputation of Dokter Data as a competition that is not only recognized nationally but also starting to gain attention from the international academic community. This is a strategic step in strengthening global networks and supporting the internationalization efforts of the Department of Statistics at Diponegoro University.
In her remarks at the closing ceremony, the PIC of the World Class University (WCU) Data Doctor Program 2026, Prajna Pramita Izati, S.Stat., M.Stat., said that Data Doctor is not only a competition event, but also a means to develop students’ critical thinking skills, creativity, and innovation in the fields of statistics and data science.
“Data Doctor is a platform for young people to showcase their best skills in processing data into useful information. We truly appreciate the enthusiasm of the participants who have participated in the entire competition until the final stage. The presence of 152 participating teams demonstrates that interest in statistics and data science continues to grow year after year,” he said.
Furthermore, Prajna emphasized that the second international Infographic Competition demonstrates the commitment of the Diponegoro University Statistics Department to supporting the internationalization of academic and student activities. He believes the continued internationalization of the competition demonstrates that Dokter Data continues to grow and is increasingly capable of reaching participants from various countries.
“Through this competition, we hope to create a broader space for collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Participants will not only compete, but also learn from each other and develop their skills in generating data-driven solutions relevant to various global challenges,” he added.
In addition to the competition, the 2026 Data Doctor Closing Ceremony also featured an international seminar that provided insights into the development of social and cultural interactions in the digital era. The seminar featured two speakers from Universiti Malaysia Sabah: Dr. Suaini Binti Sura, who presented ” Digital Culture and Social Interaction in Social Media and Social Commerce ,” and Dr. Siti Rahayu Binti Mohd Hashim, who presented ” Analysis of Social and Cultural Interaction Trends in the Data Era .”
Through these two sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how digital transformation impacts social interaction patterns and societal culture, as well as the role of data in analyzing various emerging social phenomena. This seminar complemented and enriched the participants’ experience, making Data Doctor not only a competition but also an academic forum that fosters the exchange of knowledge and global perspectives.
The closing ceremony was lively, with the announcement of the winners from each competition category. Participants, lecturers, judges, and committee members celebrated the success of Dokter Data 2026, which once again provided a platform for the birth of creative and innovative ideas in the field of statistics.
Through the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and scientific development, Dokter Data 2026 reaffirms its role as a statistics competition that encourages the birth of superior talents and strengthens the contribution of statistics and data science in addressing various challenges in the future.
