As part of efforts to expand students’ academic horizons through international networks, the Department of Statistics of Diponegoro University held a guest lecture in the Undip Global Classroom (UGC) program. On March 14, 2026, this activity presented Dr. Mahid M. Mangontarum, an Associate Professor from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Mindanao State University-Main Campus, Philippines. He is known as an expert specializing in the fields of Enumerative Combinatorics, Quantum Calculus, and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA).

In the lecture which took place online, Dr. Mahid presented material in the Introduction to Probability course with the topic of Continuous Random Variables and their Distributions. The material is presented in a sequential manner, starting from the basic concept of continuous random variables to the distributions that accompany them, as well as how these concepts become an important foundation in probability analysis. Clear and systematic delivery makes it easier for students to understand the relationship between probability theory and real applications in statistics.

Not only stopping at theoretical explanations, Dr. Mahid also provided case examples and practice relevant questions. This approach helps students test their understanding directly, as well as practice analytical skills in solving probability problems. The interaction that is established during lectures makes the learning atmosphere more active and applicative, so that students can feel the real benefits of the material studied.

This activity is clear evidence of the commitment of the Department of Statistics UNDIP in providing a globally oriented learning experience. Through the Undip Global Classroom program, students not only gain academic knowledge, but also the opportunity to interact with international experts. This is expected to strengthen students’ academic capacity while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through quality education and cross-border collaboration.
